Spicy Vines is proudly an independent and family-owned winery located in downtown Healdsburg, California. The winery’s charisma and panache embody the essence of hip, cool and avant-garde California wine culture.
A VISION FUELED BY PASSION
Spicy Vines began as a leap of faith. In 2011, Crystalyn Hackett left her Olympic-bound equestrian career to pursue her passion for wine and entrepreneurship.
Inspired by her European travels and passion for old-world wines, she reinvented an ancient spiced wine recipe with a California twist—defying tradition and capturing attention. Spicy Vines soon became known for its bold, playful approach to winemaking, seamlessly blending tradition with bold, playful innovation.
In 2014, she met Doug Hackett, a skilled winemaker with a deep respect for terroir and craftsmanship. Their shared love for wine and adventure led to a partnership in both business and life.
Now husband and wife, Crystalyn and Doug have transformed Spicy Vines into one of Sonoma County’s most exciting boutique wineries. Their small-lot, single-vineyard wines strike the perfect balance between artistry and approachability, earning high ratings, Best of Class honors, and Gold Medals year after year.

We carefully source fruit from esteemed vineyards across Sonoma, Mendocino, and beyond, selecting sites that produce exceptional quality. Winemaker Doug Hackett, with over 27 years of experience, embraces a minimal-intervention philosophy—avoiding unnecessary additives and heavy manipulation. Every wine is crafted with integrity, patience, and respect for tradition, ensuring that what’s in your glass is a true reflection of its origin.
